Fort Morgan May 25,2010

Today had plans to go to Fort morgan and Fort Gaines. Fort Morgan is on the east side of Mobile Bay.

There is a lot of history here. There are times like this that I wish I could remember what I was taught or maybe I should have paid more attention in history class. Fortunately Jackie is a real history nut and can tell the most fascinating stories about what happened and why it was so important to the United States becoming a country.

 I have found some references and there is a slide with the links. The Battle of Mobile Bay must have been a terrifying thing participate in. The days of cannon ball, shot and wood splinters were horrific.

Looking at the bay and the gulf we could platforms which we were told are for producing gas.

Well, the day was hot and humid. As we were finihing up I was thinking that going to see Fort Gaines may not be the best thing to do. Talk about luck, there was a thunder storm heading our way. Well, when you hot tired and your flat feet are hurting a poor excuse is better than none.

Even better, Jackie was also ready to head back...............................

Tomorrow we plan to enjoy the park and later join friends for dinner in Pensacola.
