On Friday, May28, we drove to Tupelo MS. We followed truck route (Rt 90, 98) and eventually got to Rt. 45.
Rt 45 was a good 2-lane road for several milea and then became a 4-lane divided highway for the rest of the way. The trip was about 309 miles.
We are spending two nights here at a place named Campground at Barne's Crossing. When I called make reservations the lady I talked two really made me smile. When I offered to give my credit card number to confirm the reservation, she said In a typical southern accent she had my name and that was enough and that I could pay by cash or personnel check when I got here as they didn't take credit cards. When we arrived and met her , she turned out to be the most pleasant and helpful person you would want to meet. We have met some of the best folks in our travels. There are a lot of great people out here. It is hilly but all the sites are very level and are covered in gravel. There is cable tv and wi-fi throughout the campground. I have some pictures at: http://picasaweb.google.com/jackbarbic/CampgroungAtBarneSCrossingRS#
They will be of more interest to RV'ers that may be planning to visit here.
During the Civil War the battle at Brice's Cross Road was fought near here. You an access information on-line at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Brice's_Crossroads or http://www.nps.gov/brcr/index.htm
Every time we visit the battle fields that made our country, I am so impressed with the everyday people that put everything on the line. You can access the pictures at: http://picasaweb.google.com/jackbarbic/BriceSCrossroadMuseumBattlefieldRS#
You can't drive into Tupelo and not be informed that Elvis was born here. We did visit the site but did not go into the Elvis museum.

So, tomorrow we will go to Thousand Trails' Natchez Trace Preserve (Campground). We will be there until Friday, June 4, when we go to Highland, IL to our friends Tom & Phyllis who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
